Former North Carolina football head coach Mack Brown has put his beach house on North Carolina’s coast up for sale, according to Ross Martin. The property is listed with a $12.75 million asking price.

It includes five bedrooms, 6.5 bathrooms and is 5,701 total square feet. The beautiful Atlantic Ocean is visible from the home’s windows and the beach is just a stone’s throw away from the backdoor. Unfortunately for Brown, he no longer has a program tying him to the property.

North Carolina fired Brown after the Tar Heels’ regular-season finale this past season. During his time at the helm of the program, UNC posted a 113-79-1 overall record and a 67-58-1 mark in conference play.

North Carolina went 6-6 during the regular season in the 2024 campaign. The Tar Heels only won one bowl game under Brown from 2019-24. It was the Military Bowl in 2019, the first year of Brown’s second stint with the Tar Heels.

North Carolina’s decision to fire Brown was a surprise to many fans after the 73-year-old head coach announced he would be returning for the 2025 season only the day prior to his dismissal. In November, ESPN’s Pete Thamel explained North Carolina’s decision to part ways with Brown.

“Look, this is pretty cut and dry. This is a bottom line business, and UNC simply wasn’t good enough on the field. They’re 6-5 overall this year. They’re 3-4 in the ACC. They gave up 70 points to James Madison this year,” Thamel said. “And on Saturday, they trailed Boston College 41-7 in a game against an ACC team North Carolina officials feel like they should be able to beat.

“UNC officials had hoped all year that if Mack Brown came to this decision on his own, they could walk to the door and celebrate. That didn’t happen. He got fired. He’ll only be paid out about $3 million, which is generally speaking for a Hall of Fame coach, a financially tenable way for UNC to depart with him.”

Brown certainly didn’t see the move coming. The former national-championship-winning head coach wasn’t shy to voice his frustrations with the way North Carolina handled his firing.

“All I wanted to do was wait until the end of the year,” Brown said. “And they wanted me to retire on Monday, before the [NC] State game. We haven’t beaten State, it was really important for these kids to play well and have a chance to win

“I didn’t want to break their hearts on Monday. So I said, ‘No, I won’t do that.’ And then they wanted me to do it on Friday. Well, I sure wasn’t going to do it Friday before the game.”
