Michigan kicker Adam Samaha commits to transfer to North Carolina
Michigan Wolverines kicker Adam Samaha has committed to transfer to the North Carolina Tar Heels, On3 has learned.
In two seasons with Michigan, Samaha saw limited playing time and took a redshirt for the 2023 season, making an extra point in his appearance that season. He has not yet attempted a field goal.
Samaha was an Academic All-Big Ten honoree in 2024 after earning a letterman as a freshman in 2023.
Coming out of high school at Huron in Michigan, Samaha was a three-star recruit in the Class of 2023, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. While in high school, he was the eighth-ranked kicker and the 2,136th-ranked recruit in his cycle.

While in high school, Samaha went to the playoffs for three straight seasons and was a first-team All-Conference (SEC) and Academic All-State performer. He was a U.S. Army Bowl participant.
Now, Samaha is on the move and will play for Bill Belichick at North Carolina. It made waves around college football when the legendary NFL head coach made the decision to go to college and there were some questions about how well he would be able to recruit. In the case of the Transfer Portal, however, there are some ways where this mimics free agency, which Belichick is plenty familiar with.
In his career, Belichick has coached some legendary kickers, including Adam Vinatieri and Stephen Gostkowski. Belichick was hired after the Transfer Portal opened on December 9th. Since then, he’s been active in trying to build the North Carolina roster in his own image.
North Carolina currently has the 55th-ranked transfer class in the 2025 transfer cycle, according to the On3 College Football Team Transfer Portal Rankings. That’s a class that has seen nine players officially enter the Transfer Portal and four who have signed with the Tar Heels. That includes the addition of Samaha.
