Mack Brown is getting a TV special. The North Carolina coach is the subject of ESPN2’s next installment of “Portraits.”

The show, which will tell the story of Brown’s illustrious coaching career as one of the winningest coaches in college football, airs Sunday at 10 a.m. ET on ESPN2. It will also re-air multiple times, according to an announcement from North Carolina Athletics.

The episode will focus on Brown’s life and career, from growing up in Tennessee to the magical 2005 season when he led Texas to a national championship.

Brown is gearing up for his fourth season of his second stint as UNC head coach and his 34th as a head coach. He cemented himself in college football history during his time at Texas, where he amassed a 158-48 record and helped the Longhorns to that national title. Before he headed to Austin, he coached at North Carolina from 1988-97 and took the Tar Heels to six straight bowl games before departing for the Texas job.

More on Mack Brown, North Carolina

Last season, North Carolina went 6-7 overall, including, 3-5 in ACC action and played in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl, where they fell to South Carolina. But Brown’s group lost some key playmakers, notably quarterback Sam Howell. Still, he’s setting a high bar.

“The expectation for the offense is to be the best in the country,” Brown said last month. “We have to shore up sacks. We had too many tackles for loss. We’ve changed some things with our scheme. That should help our offensive linemen. We lost four offensive linemen, we lost a tailback, we lost some great receivers. But we’ve got a very, very talented but inexperienced team coming back, so that starts at quarterback.

“We have two quarterbacks in Jacolby Criswell — he was the Gatorade Player of the Year in Arkansas. We have Drake Maye, who was the Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of North Carolina, that’s been there for a year. Those guys have both played and practiced a lot. We’ve started Sam Howell when he didn’t have any experience the year before, so we’re really, really excited about our offense, and we think we have a chance to be good.”
