After CBS aired an awkward interview with North Carolina football head coach Bill Belichick this week, in which his 24-year-old girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, reportedly interrupted numerous times, fans are wondering how much influence she has on the program. On Thursday, Barstool Sports attempted to get answers.

During The Kirk Minihane Show, Minihane called North Carolina general manager Michael Lombardi and asked him about Hudson’s role in the program. Lombardi didn’t give Minihane a solid answer and only laughed.

Minihane pushed on, asking Lombardi if Hudson was “the lead recruiter.” Lombardi laughed once again, stating he was “in recruiting” and he was “working on that.” He then hung up on Minihane.

While Hudson might not be heading up the Tar Heels’ recruiting efforts, she’s undeniably playing a role in the program. Based on emails obtained through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request filed by The Athletic‘s Matt Baker, Hudson’s email signature identifies her as the chief operating officer (COO) of Belichick Productions, though Baker found no applicable business registered with that name.

Earlier this year, Belichick requested UNC athletic department staff copy Hudson in all emails involving him. TMZ reported that, at one point during Belichick’s interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Hudson stormed out of the room and delayed the interview for 30 minutes.

North Carolina and Belichick denied this claim. In fact, Belichick released a statement about the viral interview.

“I agreed to speak with CBS Sunday Morning to promote my new book, ‘The Art of Winning – Lessons from My Life in Football,’” Belichick said in the statement. “Prior to this interview, I clearly communicated with my publicist at Simon & Schuster that any promotional interviews I participated in would agree to focus solely on the contents of this book.

“Unfortunately, that expectation was not honored during the interview. I was surprised when unrelated topics were introduced and I repeatedly express to the reporter, Tony Dokoupil, and the producers that I preferred to keep the conversation centered on the book.

“After this occurred several times, Jordon, with whom I share both a personal and professional relationship, stepped in to reiterate that point to help refocus the discussion. She was not deflecting any specific question or topic but simply doing her job to ensure the interview stayed on track.”

Despite Belichick’s statement, not everybody is convinced that Jordon Hudson had his best interest in mind. ESPN’s Paul Finebaum and Chris Russo each mocked the situation earlier this week.
