Pat Narduzzi confirms Mack Brown claim schools tried to poach Drake Maye from North Carolina
North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye was subject to transfer rumors this offseason, but he doubled down on staying with the Tar Heels. However, Pittsburgh head coach Pat Narduzzi confirmed Tar Heels coach Mack Brown’s comments, saying Maye was offered a substantial amount of money to go elsewhere but didn’t bite.
“Pitt Head Coach Pat Narduzzi says on (937 The Fan) that he’s heard 2 schools offered UNC QB Drake Maye $5 million to transfer,” Andrew Fillipponi wrote on Twitter. “Won’t say who. But he knows who. Wow. Says it’s gotten out of control and it’s only going to get worse. Quote: ‘It’s a sad, sad deal.’”

Drake Maye took to Twitter to confirm he’s not planning to leave North Carolina. He made his message crystal clear.
“Could never leave this place,” he wrote. “I’m a Tar Heel.”
Maye had an impressive redshirt freshman season for the Tar Heels and put himself in conversation for the Heisman Trophy at one point. He threw for 4,115 yards and 35 touchdowns to help the Tar Heels to a 9-4 record this season en route to ACC Player of the Year honors. But rumors of a potential transfer started to swirl after the breakout campaign, and he put those to rest with his tweet earlier this month.
