Report: Jordon Hudson claimed she was engaged to Bill Belichick amid Hard Knocks negotiations

A report from the New York Times claimed Jordon Hudson said she was engaged to Bill Belichick amid the Hard Knocks cancellation. North Carolina was set to be on the HBO show this summer, instead of an NFL franchise, before Hudson was allegedly the reason for NFL Films pulling the plug.

The New York Times’ Katherine Rosman reported Hudson had a list of demands for HBO. In what has been revealed to be new details, Hudson flipped a switch just days before announcing the series was coming to college football.

Not only that, as The Athletic’s Stewart Mandel pointed out, Hudson reportedly told at least one person that she and Belichick were engaged. How far that went is anyone’s guess, but it’s a noteworthy nugget to the relationship that has set the sports media world, if not the entire news world, on fire.

“This winter, producers at NFL Films decided that a new season of its sports docuseries, ‘Hard Knocks,’ would focus on Mr. Belichick’s efforts to build the UNC football program ahead of the 2025 season,” Rosman wrote, via Mandel. “HBO agreed to air it. But days before they were set to announce the series, Ms. Hudson demanded she be granted content approval and partial ownership of the show, according to a person familiar with the deal who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized by producers to speak to a reporter. NFL Films pulled the plug.”

There’s a lot to this story between Hudson and Belichick. Sports reporter Pablo Torre did an investigative piece on his podcast to find out more about the relationship and even said the pair has declined numerous requests for comment. Hudson and Belichick’s relationship was put under a microscope following a CBS This Morning interview in which she intervened and stopped any questions about how the two met, sticking to meeting on an airplane a few years ago.

Now, there have been concerns that Belichick’s relationship with Hudson, whether they’re engaged or not, has become a distraction. The new UNC coach denied that.

This came out despite Hudson interfering with the CBS This Morning interview, allegedly being the reason why Hard Knocks pulled out of following UNC this summer and forcing her way onto a Super Bowl commercial alongside Belichick.

“That’s what I do as I stay focused on football and some of the other opportunities that come along,” Belichick said on The Pivot Podcast. “You know, Jordon looks at those and can dig into them a little bit deeper, but really, what she does helps me spend my time on football, and that’s what’s important to me.”
