Scott Forbes explains why he's confident in UNC's offense despite struggles, praises Max Carlson
Scott Forbes is hoping to see the North Carolina offense get it going at the NCAA Baseball Tournament.
Speaking with the ESPN broadcast during the Tar Heels’ showdown against Wright State, Forbes explained what his thought process has been regarding North Carolina being unable to score baserunners over the last 24 hours, and why he believes they’ll get things going.
“Forget it quickly. Keep getting them on base, like we have today,” explained Forbes. “Obviously the same thing has happened today, but I’m a firm believer that if you keep getting them out there, somebody is going to bust one.”
Continuing, Forbes’ starting pitcher for Saturday’s game, Max Carlson, has been pretty dang good thus far, allowing no hits through three innings pitched. However, the umpire had an issue with Carlson’s pitching motion, which the Tar Heels rectified quickly, as the team looks to stay hot.

“No doubt about it. He’s a veteran, big-game type guy,” added Forbes. “The conversation was just about the delivery. It’s got to be continuous. So we fixed that real quick, and we’re ready to go.”
At the moment, North Carolina is leading Wright State by a score of 1-0, and Scott Forbes is hoping that stays true moving forward.
