North Carolina offensive lineman Spencer Rolland has declared for the 2024 NFL Draft, he announced via social media. He was a key part of a unit that protected Drake Maye the last two years.

Rolland started his college career at Harvard, where he became an All-Ivy League tackle in 2021. He then entered the transfer portal and arrived at North Carolina as a graduate student, and he got to spend two years with the Tar Heels thanks to the COVID-19 waiver.

Right away, Rolland became the starting right tackle, and he held that role for all 13 games in 2022 before again anchoring the offensive line in 2023.

“These past two years at the University of North Carolina have been a true blessing,” Spencer Rolland wrote in his announcement. “I want to thank all my coaches, especially Coach Brown, who continued to develop me into a better player on the field and an even better man off the field.

“To my teammates, thank you for embracing me and pushing me to become the best version of myself. I built many friendships that will last for many years to come. … I am excited to continue my football journey by entering the 2024 NFL Draft.”

Players will have the opportunity to solidify their draft stock at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, to be held in Indianapolis, Indiana from February 26 through March 4.

The three-day event will be broadcasted throughout the weekend on ESPN and NFL Network.

To be eligible for the NFL Draft, players must be at least three years removed from their final year of high school while having used up their collegiate eligibility. Underclassmen are able to request league approval to become eligible for the draft, as are players who have graduated prior to using up all of their collegiate eligibility.

Last season, 69 players were granted special eligibility for the 2023 NFL Draft. 13 underclassmen who had completed their college degrees were also deemed eligible to be selected.

The deadline to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft is on January 15. NFL teams will receive a full list of eligible players in the class on January 19.
