Justin McKoy, the UNC transfer from Virginia, will be the Glue to bring the Carolina team together. The University of Virginia beat the UNC men’s basketball team in February. It was a one-sided victory in favor of the Cavaliers. One player stayed more than two hours after the game working on his shot. That player was Justin McKoy. Justin grabbed two of his head trainers and worked on countless moves and countermoves. While Justin was working out, the UNC men’s basketball team was watching from the crowd. This impressed the eyes of then-assistant coach Hubert Davis. Soon as Hubert was hired as a Head Coach Justin McKoy the first player he wanted to call when he decided to transfer, making him Carolina’s glue guy.

Justin McKoy the Glue Guy

Growing up in Cary,  North Carolina, Justin has always had Carolina on his mind. The biggest reason for commitment was Coach Davis.  “When I entered the transfer portal, Coach Davis and I talked for an hour about how he could utilize me and I believed in him and his system,” says Justin. Players have been raving about Hubert Davis’ energy and compassion for the game and will be excited about Justin’s role in his new offense. Justin has all the intangibles to be Carolina’s “glue guy” who brings everyone together. He might not score the most points or get the most rebounds, but he can be the one who can connect the talent and the role players.

It’ll be interesting to see how Justin’s role increases this year on his new team. Returning players Caleb Love, Armando Bacot, Leaky Black, and RJ Davis all have th ability to score . High-end transfers Dawson Garcia and Brady Manek also commited to UNC. With all these players the Tar Heels are set for a deep run in the tournament.
