Washington transfer wide receiver Jason Robinson signs with North Carolina Tar Heels
Washington transfer wide receiver Jason Robinson officially signed with the North Carolina Tar Heels on Saturday evening, On3’s Pete Nakos reported. He redshirted during the 2024 season.
During his high school career, Robinson played the senior year of his high school football career with San Juan Hills. Initially, he attended Long Beach Poly as a sophomore and junior. He helped to guide San Juan Hills to an 11-2 overall record and the CIF Southern Section Division III playoff semifinals in 2023. He hauled in 68 catches for 900 yards and nine touchdowns.
Long Beach Poly went 10-1 and reached the quarterfinals of the CIF Southern Section Division I playoffs. He hauled in 46 catches for 671 yards and five touchdowns his junior year. Robinson earned second-team junior All-American honors from MaxPreps.
As a sophomore in 2021, he hauled in 63 catches for 1,007 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns. The North Carolina Tar Heels fell to the UConn Huskies in their bowl game. It was a 27-14 loss. And the Heels finished with a 6-7 overall record (3-5 in the ACC).
Jason Robinson will be playing for Bill Belichick
They hired Bill Belichick as their head coach this offseason and it will be interesting to see how the experiment works out in Chapel Hill.
The speculation was fun for a few hours, but if a report from The Athletic’s Dianna Russini is any indication, Belichick won’t be headed back to the NFL this offseason.
A report from NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero surfaced Wednesday morning that ‘multiple NFL teams have inquired’ about Belichick and any potential interest in returning to an NFL sideline. That included the Las Vegas Raiders, where Tom Brady is a minority owner.

But Russini reports she was told Belichick’s ‘sole focus is on coaching and recruiting for North Carolina, as he continues building the Tar Heels’ future.’ She added that he is in New Jersey recruiting today.
Bill Belichick signed a five-year contract to become North Carolina’s head coach back on December 11th. He has a $10 million buyout with that contract, valid until June 1, when it drops to just $1 million.
As it stands right now, Bill Belichick is hitting the recruiting trail, the transfer portal and filling out his staff. He’s reportedly targeting IMG Academy head coach Billy Miller for a spot on the coaching staff.
North Carolina will open up the 2025 campaign with the TCU Horned Frogs. That one will be played on Saturday, August 30th.
