Former FCS All-American Cole Wisniewski enters transfer portal
North Dakota State safety Cole Wisniewski has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. Wisniewski did not play this season after undergoing foot surgery in August. However, it appears as though he is returning to college football and will play elsewhere in 2025.
During the 2023 season, Cole Wisniewski earned consensus first-team FCS All-American honors after recording eight interceptions, which led all Division I players.
Cole Wisniewski signed with North Dakota State out of Sparta High School in Sparta, Wisconsin ahead of the 2020 season. He played in all 10 games that year as a true freshman and started FCS playoff games against Eastern Washington and Sam Houston.
In 2021, Wisniewski in all 15 games at linebacker and made two starts. He finished fourth on the team with 53 tackles and had 2.5 tackles for loss and a sack.
In the 2022 season, Cole Wisniewski missed the first seven games of the year with an injury. However, he played in the final eight games, including getting a start in the national championship game. He finished that season with 27 tackles and a touchdown on a fumble recovery.

Last year was when Wisniewski really had a breakthrough. He moved to safety and starred for the Bison. In 14 games, all starts, he led NDSU with 92 tackles. He also had eight interceptions, tying the Missouri Valley Football Conference and NDSU single-season records.
Unfortunately, he was forced to redshirt in 2024 due to an injury. He has aspirations of playing in the NFL but first will enter the transfer portal and finish out his college football career elsewhere.
There’s no doubt that Cole Wisniewski has excellent ball skills and is a really good tackler. It will be interesting to see where he ends up for the 2025 college football season.
As for North Dakota State, the Bison are currently 10-2 on the year. They are set to play in the second round of the FCS Playoffs on Saturday when they will take on Abilene Christian in a home game. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
