Canadian forward Luke Hunger commits to Northwestern
Canadian big man Luke Hunger, who plays for Mount Hermon (Mass.) Northfield Mount Hermon, committed Tuesday to Northwestern.
Hunger took visits to Harvard, Miami, Northwestern and Richmond this fall. He also holds offers Boston College, Boston University, Brown, East Carolina, Loyola (Chicago), UMass, Northeastern, Ole Miss, Pitt, Towson and William & Mary.
The Wildcats hosted the 6-foot-10 Hunger the weekend of Oct. 9.
Luke Hunger is the second commit in the Northwestern recruiting class
Hunger is the second commit in the class following his high school teammate Rowan Brumbaugh.
“I have always been the type of kid to bet on myself and go the way that people doubt,” Brumbaugh told On3’s Joe Tipton when he committed in August. “I want to create my own legacy and really build this program up. I have a great relationship with Coach (Chris) Collins and I really think my game can mature and develop incredibly under him.”
Brumbaugh is a four-star point guard. He is ranked as the No. 81 overall recruit in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

He is rated even higher in the 2022 On3 rankings at No. 55 and as the 12th-best point guard in the country.
On3 Senior National Recruiting Analyst Gerry Hamilton has high praise for Brumbaugh.
“He makes the correct play a very high percentage of the time,” Hamilton said. “His offensive game will go to the next level when he becomes more consistent shooting the three off the dribble. Displayed the ability at NBPA Top100 Camp to recover and make plays defensively. Competes on both ends of the floor. High-level basketball IQ, and a true gym rat.”
Northwestern’s 2021 recruiting class had three commits and none were power forwards. Those commits were Lafayette (Ind.) Jefferson small forward Brooks Barnhizer, West Bloomfield (Mich.) St. Mary’s shooting guard Julian Roper and Milton (Mass.) Milton Academy shooting guard Casey Simmons
