Four-star Fond Du Lac (Wis.) St Mary’s Springs offensive lineman Billy Schrauth has committed to Notre Dame, he announced on Friday.

Schrauth is the No. 137 prospect in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is ranked as the nation’s No. 13 interior offensive lineman and the No. 3 player in the state of Wisconsin.

The two players ranked ahead of him are also four-star interior offensive lineman: Milwaukee (Wis.) Whitefish Bay’s Joe Brunner and Hammond (Wis.) Saint Croix Central’s Carson Hinzman.

The 6-foot-5, 295-pounder chose the Fighting Irish over offers from Wisconsin, Ohio State and others. He is the school’s No. 23 commit in the 2022 cycle, joining Hilton Head Island (S.C.) Hilton Head five-star linebacker Jaylen Sneed, Traverse City (Mich.) Central four-star linebacker Joshua Burnham and Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star wideout C.J. Williams.

Notre Dame now has five offensive lineman recruits in the class in Billy Schrauth, Groton (Mass.) Lawrence Academy (Groton, MA) four-star offensive tackle Ty Chan, Lawrenceburg (Ind.) four-star interior offensive lineman Ashton Craig, Zionsville (Ind.) four-star interior offensive lineman Joey Tanona and Dayton (Ohio) Wayne four-star offensive tackle Aamil Wagner.

He took official visits to Wisconsin, Ohio State and Notre Dame this summer, as well as a trip back to Columbus this fall to see the Buckeyes.

The Irish have the No. 5 class nationally, according to the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings. Schrauth is new head coach Marcus Freeman‘s first commitment since taking over as head coach after Brian Kelly left to take the same job at LSU.
