Warner Robins (Ga.) four-star wide receiver Isiah Canion has committed to Notre Dame over Florida State and others. It was love at first sight for Canion, the No. 94 overall prospect in the 2024 On300 rankings.

Canion knew Notre Dame was a special place during his first visit a few weeks back. He returned to South Bend last weekend for the Fighting Irish’s spring game.

That visit sealed the deal for the four-star wide receiver. Canion connected with the other Notre Dame commits as well as the coaches.

“I really loved Notre Dame the first time I went,” Canion told On3. “Then after I went back and watched the spring game and connected with the other commits, I knew I could see myself being there and a part of their 2024 class.”

The atmosphere in South Bend impacted Canion as well. He’s built some strong relationships at Notre Dame in a short time.

“Notre Dame is a great school, I really enjoy the atmosphere and value the relationships I have built with the coaches,” Canion said.

Being in South Bend brought out the real version of Canion. He felt at home and in his element on Notre Dame’s campus.

“I really did enjoy being up there each time,” Canion said. “I felt comfortable to be myself and everything felt genuine and natural.”

Notre Dame’s coaching staff was a key point of connection for Isiah Canion

Canion connected with Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman as well as wide receiver coach Chansi Stucky. Freeman made the four-star wideout feel like a priority every time he interacted with Canion.

Freeman also made helped point to Notre Dame’s academic advantages as well.

“Coach Freeman is great, every time we have spoken he was very engaged and really made me feel like a priority for them,” Canion said. “He also did a very good job selling me the academic part of what they have to offer.”

Stuckey’s approachable attitude helped him connect with Canion. Stuckey is from Warner Robins though he played for Canion’s school’s rivals Northside Warner Robins. Canion was able to relate and connect with Stuckey on multiple levels.

“I feel like me and coach (Chansi) Stuckey built a really good relationship,” Canion said. “I like his personality. He is a great person to be around and knows how to ‘cut up’ and be cool. He also has the ability to be serious and intense when needed. So that’s very important to be able to do both.”
