Benjamin Morrison injury: Notre Dame CB to undergo hip surgery, out for season
Notre Dame cornerback Benjamin Morrison is out for the season and will undergo hip surgery, according to Blue and Gold’s Tyler Horka.
“Notre Dame cornerback Benjamin Morrison injured his hip. He needs surgery, and he’s out for the season,” Horka wrote on Twitter. “Massive loss for the Irish secondary.”
In six games this season, Morrison had 20 total tackles and four pass deflections. Over the course of his Norte Dame career since 2022, Morrison had 84 tackles, five tackles for loss, nine interceptions and 18 pass deflections.
As a member of the Class of 2022, Morrison was a four-star recruit out of Phoenix (Ari.) Brophy College Preparatory, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 4 overall prospect in the state, the No. 37 cornerback in the class and the No. 342 overall prospect in the class.

With Morrison out, Notre Dame will have to scramble to replace him in the secondary for the second half of the season.

The Fighting Irish improved to 5-1 on the year with a 49-7 win over Stanford Saturday, even with the loss of Morrison. Riley Leonard led the way with 229 yards passing and three touchdowns.
Jeremiyah Love added 53 yards and a touchdown on six carries. After being tied 7-7 in the first quarter, Notre Dame ran away with it.
“So really proud of this group,” head coach Marcus Freeman said. “Enjoy tonight. Enjoy earning that Legends Trophy, which is a reflection, as I told them, of team glory. That’s what that trophy represents is a bunch of people committing to something bigger than themselves.
“Proud of them for that. We’ll get back to work on Sunday and start preparing for our next opponent.”
Sans Morrison, Notre Dame is back in action this Saturday, on the road, against Georgia Tech.
