LOOK: Blake Wesley makes decision regarding future at Notre Dame
Notre Dame star freshman Blake Wesley has declared for the 2022 NBA Draft, he announced Wednesday via social media where he thanked his family, coaches, teammates and the university. Wesley averaged 14.4 points per game during his lone season in South Bend and ranked second on his team this season.
The statement reads:
First, I would like to say that God has truly blessed me. He has given me the opportunity, knowledge, and courage to pursue my dreams.
To my family: thank you for constantly supporting me through life and the journey of my college career. Thanks, mom, for being a loving mother and always being my number one fan. Thanks dad, for being a father who provides stability and love to our family, and truly my first basketball coach. Thanks to my sister and brother for all your love and support to keep me grounded, Family I everything to me.
To my coaches: thank you to all my coaches who allowed me to be a part of their team and for contributing their time, knowledge, and love for the game of basketball. Your guidatice on and off the court has provided me with the skills to progress to the next level in basketball and life.
To my teammates: the sweat and grind we put in together makes us family forever. This year, the leadership of our seven seniors pushed me to work even harder.
To the University of Notre Dame and Coach Brey: I am beyond thankful to be a part of this family. The coaching staff and faculty here are amazing an I’m blessed to have this experience. You believed in me and gave me a chance to excel on and off the court. Playing for the Notre Dame family and the South Bend community has made this year an incredible experience. It has always been a dream and a goal for me to play at the next level. God has a plan for me and I trust him.
With that being said, I would like to announce that I will be entering my name in the 2022 NBA Draft.
Wesley’s Notre Dame career came to an abrupt end in this year’s NCAA Tournament after a brief run to the Round of 32, defeating the likes of Rutgers and Alabama before falling to Texas Tech at the end of the tournament’s first weekend.
