On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine: Notre Dame trending for EDGE Bryce Young
Charlotte (N.C.) Charlotte Christian four-star EDGE Bryce Young is set to commit on Saturday after announcing his intentions to do so earlier this week. Michigan, Notre Dame, Tennessee and USC are among the contenders heading into his decision, but one school has taken a major lead in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).
Following a prediction from Michigan insider EJ Holland and others around the recruiting industry, Notre Dame is trending to land Young, per the RPM. It currently gives the Fighting Irish a 98.2 percent chance of securing his commitment.
Young is the No. 314 overall prospect and No. 21 EDGE in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 10 player in North Carolina.
On3 rates Young higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Per the 2024 On300, he is the No. 236 overall prospect and No. 8 player in North Carolina.
Young has already visited the Fighting Irish twice this year. His most recent trip to South Bend came last weekend for the Blue-Gold Game.
Coaching staff, campus atmosphere have Notre Dame in strong contention
Notre Dame has been considered one of the top programs for Young ever since last fall, when Notre Dame insider Mike Singer predicted the Irish would eventually land him. The coaching staff, led by assistant Al Washington, has made him a major priority.

“I really like the coaching staff,” Young told On3’s Jeremy Johnson on Feb. 17. “I’ve been to campus… I love the program and everything they stand for. I love coach (Al) Washington. I’ve also build a great relationship with him.”
Young’s father, Bryant Young, played at Notre Dame before spending 14 seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. Bryant was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2022. But he isn’t putting any pressure on his son to follow his footsteps.
“He’s pretty quiet (during Notre Dame visits), but if he sees something that he experienced, then he’ll say something,” Young told Blue and Gold on Jan. 15. “But he’s letting me go through the process and see what I think about it for myself.”
The RPM also has Notre Dame trending to land four-star wide receiver Micah Gilbert, Young’s high school teammate. He is committing on May 2. The Irish currently have 10 commits in the 2024 cycle and rank No. 10 nationally in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
