For the second straight year, Notre Dame has one of the nation’s top quarterbacks committed to their recruiting class.

And for a second summer in a row, they’ll have a player repping the Fighting Irish at the nation’s most prestigious quarterback event, the Elite 11 Finals. On Sunday, four-star Lucedale (Miss.) George County quarterback and ND pledge Deuce Knight earned an invite after a standout performance at the Elite 11 Regional in Oxford, Mississippi.

There are few higher honors for high school quarterbacks than being invited to the Elite 11 Finals. The event, which will celebrate its 25th year in 2024, brings together the country’s elite signal-callers for three days of competition and training in Los Angeles.

Elite 11 alumni include Carson PalmerAndrew LuckMatthew StaffordTim Tebow, and more recently Trevor LawrenceC.J. StroudBryce Young and more. Last year’s Elite 11 Finals featured more than a dozen of the top 20 quarterbacks in the final On3 Industry Rankings, including each of the top five players at the position.

Knight leads a very strong recruiting class for Fighting Irish

Landing Knight over the likes of Ole Miss, Tennessee, Alabama and a number of others in September was a huge coup for Marcus Freeman and Co. It also helped to set of an explosion of commitments for Notre Dame, which holds 19 commitments with almost eight months until Signing Day.

Since Knight’s decision on September 18, 2023, ND has added 16 of its 19 commitments (not including him), a group that features 10 blue-chip prospects and six ranked in the top 200 nationally.

“I hope they know they’re getting an elite competitor,” Knights told On3 when asked what Irish fans should expect of him. “Anything that I can do to win games, that’s what I’m going to do. They’re getting a guy who will come in and help everyone get better because I’m an elite competitor.

… If I’m going to compete hard, that’s going to make everyone around me compete hard. And I’m a great teammate. I’m going to support everyone around the program in any way I can.”

The No. 7 quarterback in the 2025 class, Knight ranks No. 57 overall in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
