Notre Dame continues to stockpile talent along the offensive line, with four-star West Roxbury (Mass.) Catholic Memorial offensive tackle Guerby Lambert the latest to commit to the Fighting Irish.

The 6-foot-6, 290-pound mauler announced for Marcus Freeman and Co. on Tuesday night, choosing them over Ohio State, Boston College and Harvard.

Lambert initially planned to commit this summer, but held off until now. The Fighting Irish had been atop his recruitment since his official visit in June.

“The coaches, Coach (Marcus) Freeman and Coach (Joe) Rudolph, they’re amazing people and just the whole coaching staff in general,” Lambert told On3’s Chad Simmons in July. “Their players as well. When I went there, they were a group of players I could see myself around. And obviously, they have great academics there and amazing football.”

The elite offensive tackle also already has a connection in South Bend. Former Catholic Memorial teammate Boubacar Traore is an incoming freshman at Notre Dame and was a four-star defensive line prospect in the 2023 cycle.

“We were getting pretty close,” Lambert said. “At the end of the year, obviously, he got hurt and that hurt a little bit. It will be good to be teammates probably again.”

Another top-50 commitment for the Fighting Irish

On top of being Notre Dame’s fourth offensive line pledge this cycle, Lambert adds another elite-level prospect to the Irish’s class.

Lambert ranks as the No. 54 overall prospect and No. 4 offensive tackle in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

On3, however, rates him slightly higher, according to the Industry Comparison. In the recently updated On300 rankings, he checks in as the country’s No. 28 overall prospect — a projected five-star recruit by the end of the recruiting cycle.

He joins Glen Elyn (Ill.) four-star wideout Cam Williams and Saline (Mich.) four-star quarterback CJ Carr as top-50 commits for the Fighting Irish class. In total, Notre Dame holds commitments from 14 blue-chip prospects, putting them among the country’s elite programs in that regard.

Guerby Lambert Recruiting Profile

On3’s Scouting and Rankings team compares Lambert to former Florida five-star offensive tackle D.J. Humphries, a first-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.

“He is a toolsy offensive tackle with a high-end combination of size and movement skills. Measured at around 6-foot-6, 290 pounds with a 34-inch arm prior to his senior season. Has worked primarily as a right tackle while playing for one of the better high school programs in Massachusetts. Plays with outstanding bend and flexibility. Has a flat back in his stance and drives off the ball low to create a leverage advantage against smaller defensive linemen.

… Uses his long arms to control defenders at the point of attack. Shows encouraging reactive quickness in his pass set. Has added functional play strength over the past year, but can continue improving in that regard. Will need to hone his pass blocking technique, but has the movement skills and physical dimensions to be a strong pass protector with coaching and development. Also participates in track with solid throws in the shot put, marked by a personal best toss of 45-9 feet.”
