ESPN, NFL insiders name Notre Dame star Isaiah Foskey as under-the-radar draft prospect
Matt Miller, an NFL insider for ESPN, has named Notre Dame edge rusher Isaiah Foskey as an under-the-radar NFL Draft prospect for 2023.
“Foskey will be the centerpiece of a Notre Dame defense looking for a leader after the loss of All-American safety Kyle Hamilton to the NFL,” wrote Miller. “He’s capable of stepping up and being not only the leader but also the focal point for opposing offenses.”
Part of what makes Isaiah Foskey an underrated draft prospect is the depth of talent at the edge. In particular, Alabama’s Will Anderson is the headline-grabbing edge rusher in the class. That means every other edge rusher is going to be overshadowed by Anderson.
“No one is touching Will Anderson, but Foskey could push himself into the top 10 this year,” an NFC scout said. “He’s that naturally talented. You just don’t hear about him because there are so many studs at defensive end.”

“The 2023 class is shaping up to be great at defensive end, and Anderson is the clear-cut leader,” added Miller. “After starring in his first season as a starter, Foskey could keep rising. He has the agility, length and power to be a force on all three downs. The sky’s the limit on his 2022 season.”

Following the 2021 season, Isaiah Foskey had the opportunity to go to the NFL. He chose to come back to Notre Dame, where he expects to improve his NFL Draft stock. He expects to sneak into the top 10, similar to how Travon Walker and Aidan Hutchinson did during the 2022 NFL Draft.
Isaiah Foskey has ideal size and speed for an edge rusher in the NFL. As a starter at Notre Dame, he likely won’t stay under the radar for very long, as all eyes end up on the Irish.
In 2021, Isaiah Foskey had 11 sacks and six forced fumbles. He’ll look to build on that in 2022.
