Four-star safety Ivan Taylor of Winter Garden (FL) West Orange High announced his commitment to Notre Dame Friday afternoon.

The 6-foot, 175 pounder chose the Fighting Irish over Florida State, USC, and Michigan.

“What stood out about Notre Dame was the coaching and communication. The coaches and I would talk everyday not even about football but about everyday things. They treat me as a priority all the time even when I wasn’t committed. They were saying this was a joke from the jump Coach o’Leary and I from the Irish invasion, like he told me what I needed to work and we were just talking the whole time. Then after that started talking to Coach Freeman everyday and the relationship started becoming not evening like Coaches but a friend’s relationship. Chad played a huge part in just always making sure if I needed something to call him up or to go on the walk, just little things like that they did very well.”

His relationship with the coaching staff and their plan for him played a role in his decision as well.

“I would say I’m close to all the coaches pretty well. And have a good connection with them. Coach O Leary definitely is communicating and growing.  Either at nickel or safety just being able to make plays and fly around and have fun.”
