From Notre Dame‘s College Football Playoff first-round game against Indiana to the national championship game vs. Ohio State, the health of Jeremiyah Love has been a storyline. The Irish running back has not been fully healthy for a few weeks now. Currently, it’s a knee issue bothering Love.

Ahead of Monday’s kickoff, ESPN’s Pete Thamel provided an update on where Love stands. No knee brace was being worn during pregame warmups, a good sign. If there is anything for him to overcome on the field, it’s getting over the mental aspect of a knee injury.

“Here’s a look at [Jeremiyah] Love warming up,” Thamel said via X. “No knee brace. He’d told ESPN that he’s 90-95-percent, with the only hurdle remaining a mental one. He said he was 75-80-percent against Penn State. He wore a knee brace in that game.”

You can check out the photo Thamel provided, showing Love in full uniform without that knee brace.

Love has still found a way to make an impact for Notre Dame, being a huge reason why they are playing in the national championship game. Three games have resulted in 173 yards and two touchdowns, none bigger than the 98-yard score against Indiana. His goal-line touchdown against Penn State is a close second, fighting through a ton of contact.

Now, the goal for Love is to find a way to put up similar performances against Ohio State. He originally labeled the knee brace a game-time decision, citing some of the confidence it gives him out on the field.

“It’ll be a game-time decision for me,” Love said via Sirius XM on Sunday. “I feel really good with my knee without the brace, and it’ll just be a game time decision. The brace is great, you know, it gives me that extra security, gives me that extra confidence in my knee.

“But I don’t really think that I need it going into this game, because it feels great whenever I’m practicing and all that. But, you know, this is gonna be one game of many more to come. So really, it’s gonna be a game time decision. And I might end up wearing it just for my security overall.”
