Chicago (Ill.) St. Ignatius five-star defensive lineman Justin Scott is spending his Saturday on a visit to Notre Dame. Scott tweeted out a photo from the visit early Saturday morning.

The visit to South Bend is the first of the new year for Scott. He will also take an unofficial to Miami on April 10 and Georgia on April 14 and has three of his five official visit dates set. Scott will visit Georgia on June 3, Miami on June 9 and Ohio State on June 23.

Scott is the No. 11 overall prospect and No. 2 defensive lineman in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 1 player in Illinois.

On3 rates Scott higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Per the 2024 On300, Scott is the No. 7 overall prospect in the country, the No. 2 defensive lineman and the No. 1 player in Illinois.

The 6-foot-5, 310-pounder holds several Power Five offers and the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine currently has Notre Dame as the heavy favorite to land a commitment from Scott at 79.1%.

Justin Scott currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $236K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Where Justin Scott sits with Notre Dame

Prior to the new year, Scott had visited Notre Dame twice with the last visit coming on July 26.

Scott was originally set to announce his commitment at the end of January but decided to delay that decision. He was also set to visit Notre Dame but was unable to due to the poor weather.

“I definitely thought that I was kind of rushing it,” Scott told On3 on Jan. 26. “I hadn’t even taken any officials and really, when you look at it, I really haven’t even been to that many places. I just wanted to maximize the opportunities cause you only get this once so I just want to enjoy it and I felt like there was no need to just rush this commitment. The last thing I want to be is committed and still take visits. When I commit to a school, I want to be locked in with that school and just shut down my recruitment.”

Notre Dame’s gotten off to a fast start with its 2024 recruiting class with eight commitments already. Five of those commitments are four-star recruits including Glen Ellyn (Ill.) Glenbard South wide receiver Cam Williams and Saline (Mich.) quarterback CJ Carr.

The Fighting Irish currently have the No. 5 class in the country after finishing the 2023 cycle with the No. 9 class in the country.
