3-star WR Kaleb Smith commits to Notre Dame

Frisco (Texas) Reedy three-star wide receiver Kaleb Smith has announced his commitment to Notre Dame. He chose the Fighting Irish after backing off his pledge to Texas Tech on Nov. 4.

Smith is the No. 932 overall prospect and No. 135 wide receiver in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 175 player in Texas.

On3 rates Smith higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Even though he is not ranked in the 2023 On300, Smith is the No. 60 wide receiver and No. 73 player in Texas.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound wideout is the fourth wide receiver in Notre Dame’s 2023 recruiting class. The others are Round Rock (Texas) Stony Point Braylon James, Austin (Texas) Westlake four-star Jaden Greathouse and Folsom (Calif.) four-star Rico Flores Jr.

Following Smith’s commitment, the Fighting Irish’s group is No. 3 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings. Notre Dame’s highest-rated commit is Denton (Texas) Guyer five-star safety Peyton Bowen, the No. 13 overall prospect in the On300.

Smith took his official visit to South Bend on the weekend of Nov. 5. That day, Notre Dame upset then-No. 4 Clemson 35-14.

The Lone Star State native has an On3 NIL Valuation of $6K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
