Jarrett Patterson is a veteran leader on the offensive line for Marcus Freeman on the Notre Dame offense. A redshirt senior, he is expected to be an anchor for the Irish offensive line. However, a foot sprain suffered during Fall camp is now making Patterson questionable for the Ohio State game.

Marcus Freeman met with the media following practice to give an update on Patterson’s status and outlined his recovery.

“J-Pat has a foot sprain,” Marcus Freeman confirmed. “Right now, we’re being cautious on his return. We’ve got to rest it. It’s really for him, it’s going to be once we probably get through about a ten-day period of resting. It will be go as he can tolerate the pain.”

With that, Marcus Freeman announced that he is questionable for the Ohio State game. It depends on how much pain Patterson will be able to tolerate. Freeman seems to expect him to be ready to go.

“But, I know J-Pat. I know his mentality. And, again, as a head coach, I expect he’ll probably be out there just because I know the type of competitor he is.”

Jarrett Patterson is a preseason All-American

Marcus Freeman is expecting to be able to lean on Jarrett Patterson for good reason. He’s a preseason All-American. Notably, he made the PFF All-American list as the First Team center. That’s the position he played last season, though Patterson is moving to guard in 2022.

Along with PFF, outlets like Sporting News and Athlon also named Jarrett Patterson a preseason All-American. On top of that, he’s a Walter Camp preseason All-American.
