Mike Brey provides status update on Nate Laszewski against Clemson
Notre Dame fans will have to wait until tip-off to see if Nate Laszewski will play on Saturday.
Fighting Irish coach Mike Brey ruled Laszewski a “game-time decision” for his team’s matchup with Clemson on Saturday, according to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein. Laszewski left Notre Dame’s game against NC State last week with an apparent knee injury and didn’t play in Wednesday’s win over Louisville.
After the game, Brey didn’t seem too concerned about the severity of the injury.
“It’s a bruise, nothing structural,” Brey told reporters, via Blue and Gold’s Patrick Engel.
Laszewski averages 8.4 points per game on 48.9% shooting and started every game this season for Notre Dame before that matchup with Louisville. Getting him back would be a huge boost for the Fighting Irish, who find themselves tied with Duke for first place in the ACC at 10-3.
Clemson will also be short-handed in this game as one of their starters serves a suspension and another deals with an injury.
Clemson’s David Collins suspended for Saturday’s game against Notre Dame
Clemson will be without guard David Collins against Notre Dame on Saturday.
The ACC suspended Collins for one game after his flagrant foul on Duke’s Wendell Moore Jr., the league announced Friday. The foul occurred late in the first half of Duke’s 82-64 victory over Clemson on Thursday night and the officials ruled it a flagrant 2. That led to Collins’ ejection from the contest.

Moore fell hard, but stayed in the game. He finished with eight points and eight assists in 33 minutes of action.
Collins ranks third on Clemson’s roster with 10.5 points per game this season. The Tigers are also without Hunter Tyson against Notre Dame, meaning they’ll be down two players who average double figure points per game. Collins took to Instagram on Friday to talk about the play and said he “was going to try to block it from behind,” but wasn’t able to stop because he was going too fast.
Tip-off between Clemson and ACC-leading Notre Dame is coming up Saturday at 7 p.m. ET on the ACC Network.
