“The Bus” keeps on rolling. Pro Football Hall of Famer Jerome Bettis is a legend of the football world, but he inspired millions off of it by returning to complete his studies at the University of Notre Dame.

Finally, after a gap that included a Hall of Fame NFL career, the former Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles/St. Louis Rams running back walked the stage, dressed in his cap and gown to receive his diploma.

“I have been waiting 28 years to celebrate this moment,” wrote Bettis. “I am so proud to be a graduate of the University of @NotreDame class of 2022!!”

Over the course of his NFL career, Bettis always made it a priority to go back to school to finish his studies. While he was with the Rams, the bruising NFL running back even returned to Notre Dame to take some credits. Now, he’s accomplished his goal, graduating with a business degree from the esteemed school.

During his time in the NFL, Bettis elevated into one of the top ball carriers in the entire league. “The Bus” accumulated 13,664 rushing yards and 91 rushing touchdowns over his career, while adding 1,457 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns on 200 receptions, as well.

Moreover, Bettis can hang his degree next to the bevy of trophies he amassed over his career. The former Rams and Steelers running back was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year (1993), NFL Comeback Player of the Year (1996) and Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year (2001) throughout his time, in addition to being named an All-Pro twice, and Pro Bowler six times.

Additionally, Bettis reached the pinnacle of the football world in capturing a Super Bowl with the Steelers, when the team defeated the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XL. After his playing career inspired millions in Pittsburgh, the former Notre Dame star was enshrined by entering the Pittsburgh Steelers Hall of Honor.

Now, Jerome Bettis can take solace in knowing his football journey inspired millions, and his educational one will help even more. It’s never too late to finish your studies — congratulations to “The Bus” on a huge accomplishment.
