Of the top-ranked quarterbacks in the 2024 cycle, none may be more underrated than Saline (Mich.) four-star signal-caller CJ Carr. The Notre Dame commit proved his worth again on Friday night.

As Saline maneuvered to its second win of the season in 41-25 fashion over Dexter (Mich.), Carr sliced and diced his way to multiple scores through the air and on the ground. In two games, the Hornets have scored 83 points.

Carr is the No. 49 prospect and No. 6 quarterback in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the top-ranked player in Michigan.

The 6-foot-2.5, 195-pounder committed to the Fighting Irish back in June 2022. He held offers from multiple high-profile programs, including Michigan, Georgia, Alabama and LSU. Ultimately, ND quarterbacks coach Gino Guidugli and offensive coordinator Gerad Parker did enough to earn Carr’s pledge.

Including an official visit in June and another trip at the end of July, Carr has taken a heap of visits to South Bend. As he looks to finish his high school career with a bang, he continues to look forward to his next chapter with Marcus Freeman and Co.

“It’s been great, I haven’t regretted it at all. I think Notre Dame’s the best place in the country. It’s got everything I want — academics, athletics and just a great family feel,” Carr told The D Zone after Saline’s win on Friday.

Carr has an On3 NIL Valuation of $411K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

CJ Carr Scouting Summary

“Polished quarterback with a technically developed skill set. Measured at around 6-foot-2.5, 195 pounds prior to his senior season. Hand size has measured between 9.25 and 9.5 inches. Registers as average athlete with good quickness, running a 4.94 second 40-yard dash, 4.26 second shuttle and jumping 26.7 inches in the vertical at the Elite 11 regional. Has a quick, easy release that is easily replicated. Consistently spins the ball well, throwing a tight spiral. Shows the ability to layer the ball and throw with touch. Flashes functional movement skills and reactive quickness in the pocket. Capable of making off-script plays at times. Looks most comfortable in neutral, on-air settings at this stage. Completed 68.1% of his passes for 2,685 yards and 26 touchdowns against 5 interceptions. Plays in a high school offense that features a high percentage of short, quick passes. Can increase decisiveness as a player on Friday nights as his arm strength tends to show up more in neutral settings. Showed some signs of improvement late in his junior season but can improve his efficiency as a passer with his 8.2 yards per attempt being on the low end among 2024 blue-chip quarterbacks.”
