Notre Dame aiming to solidify pledge from 4-star QB commit Deuce Knight
Since committing to Notre Dame last September, Lucedale (Miss.) George County four-star quarterback Deuce Knight has been a catalyst for recruiting in South Bend.
The rising gunslinger has been vocal in his pitch to bring other high-profile recruits to the fold for Marcus Freeman — and the results are positive. The Fighting Irish currently have 18 pledges in the 2025 cycle, which results in the No. 6 class in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
Knight is the centerpiece to the class, but other programs are doing what they can to try and flip his commitment. Traction picked up on that front last month.
Alabama, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Colorado have all continued to show interest in the 6-foot-4.5, 200-pounder. He acknowledged he wasn’t cutting off communication with these programs, but he also made one thing clear: his commitment to Notre Dame is strong.
“I still feel good about Notre Dame and my commitment,” Knight told On3. “It is Notre Dame. The people are great. That makes Notre Dame different. They check on me, they make sure I am good, they make sure I am doing what I need to, to keep getting better and they just care.”
Now, Knight is back in South Bend for another important multi-day visit. On the latest edition of The Inside Scoop, Notre Dame recruiting insider Mike Singer joined On3’s Josh Newberg to dish on the latest surrounding Knight’s current visit and the state of his recruitment.
“It’s a huge visit,” Singer said. “Ever since that Atlanta Under Armour camp where you have so many media there, people are interviewing him, asking him questions about where things stand. It felt like every day for a couple weeks in mid-February there was a new story about Deuce Knight, is he gonna visit this school, what’s he thinking, which schools is he talking to … that’s kind of quieted down a little bit.”

The ND staff continues to make Knight feel solid in his pledge
While the appeal of flipping to a program like Alabama, or staying home to play for an Ole Miss is certainly an enticing option for a player of Knight’s caliber, he continues to see the same opportunities as a future QB for the Irish.
After each and every visit to South Bend, Knight raves about his relationships with the coaching staff. That includes the returning Mike Denbrock, who’s back for his latest stop with Notre Dame as the new offensive coordinator.
“(Knight) got to campus late Wednesday and I believes he leaves Sunday, might be Saturday night. Long visit for him to get around the other commits. Mike Denbrock — Notre Dame’s new offensive coordinator, it’s actually his third time in South Bend on the staff — (Knight) thinks the world of Denbrock,” Singer said.
Knight’s recruitment will continue to show interest from programs not named Notre Dame. But, with another spring visit and a summer official visit still on the docket for the No. 56 overall recruit and No. 6 QB in the On3 Industry Ranking, pulling his pledge away from the Irish is going to be a challenge, to say the least.
“Notre Dame’s got a really good opportunity to solidify him even more and then hope the outcome of this is ‘yeah, I’m not visiting any other schools,’ for sure. We’ll see how it goes,” Singer said.
