5-star SF Jalen Haralson commits to Notre Dame
Anderson (Ind.) La Lumiere five-star small forward Jalen Haralson has committed to Notre Dame, he announced on Wednesday.
He chose the Fighting Irish over Indiana and Michigan State.
Haralson is the No. 13 overall prospect and No. 3 SF in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the top-ranked player in Indiana.
The 6-foot-6, 205-pounder took an unofficial visit to South Bend back in February and returned for his official earlier this month on Sept. 7. The in-state school was able to beat out a pair of high-profile Big Ten powers in a monumental recruiting win for head coach Micah Shrewsberry and Co.
“Coach (Micah) Shrewsberry, I think, is one of the best basketball coaches in America,” Haralson told On3’s Jamie Shaw back in June. “We talk basketball all the time, the NBA Finals; we don’t even really talk college basketball. He’s a brilliant mind, and I feel like I have a brilliant mind at my age, so it’s good learning from a coach like that. We watch a lot of film, like ball screens, and he’s already helped me a lot with my game. I have a visit there the first week of September.”

Haralson is the second big recruiting victory for the Irish this month, as on Sept. 23 they landed a pledge from Indianapolis Cathedral four-star power forward Brady Koehler, the nation’s No. 92 recruit and No. 22 PF.
Jalen Haralson Scouting Summary
Shaw writes this of Haralson as a prospect:
“Jalen Haralson has a sturdy frame, one that should take well to strength and conditioning programs without losing athleticism as he continues to move forward. He has good length as well. There are interesting aspects to Haralson’s game as a point-forward type. He has a solid handle as a mismatch forward, able to get his team into sets or push the break. He is also capable of initiating offense from different levels of the court. He is a quick processor with good floor vision. Haralson is a solid straight-line athlete. He has an understanding of team defense and angles. There are questions about his lateral quickness and his burst. The jump shot can be a weapon at this point, but he needs to continue drilling down its consistency. Some unique tools with his size and feel.”
