Notre Dame commit, top-50 QB CJ Carr lights up scoreboard with Friday night performance
Saline (Mich.) four-star quarterback CJ Carr put on yet another impressive performance Friday night, throwing for four touchdowns and over 300 yards.
Saline defeated Ann Arbor (Mich.) Huron in a blowout 43-7 victory behind Carr’s four touchdowns passes.
The Notre Dame commit has been electric this season, putting out this kind of production week after week. Carr committed to Notre Dame in June 2022 despite his family ties to the University of Michigan.
“Ever since the first visit I went on to Notre Dame, I really fell in love with the place,” CJ Carr said of his commitment to the Irish. “Coach Rees and I have had a very good relationship throughout my whole recruiting process, but I have also developed a really good relationship with Coach Freeman too. I love what Coach Freeman is doing with the program and I am excited to see what he does this fall.”
Carr: ‘Notre Dame is the perfect spot for me’
Despite his connections with Michigan through his grandfather, Lloyd Carr, CJ Carr said he never felt any pressure to commit to the Wolverines.

“I have never felt any pressure to go to any school,” Carr said. “My family has always said they will support my decision. Obviously, Michigan will always hold a close place to my family’s heart, but I never could see myself going to school so close to my hometown. I have always wanted to leave home and Notre Dame is the perfect spot for me.”

Carr is the nation’s No. 50 overall prospect and No. 6 quarterback in the 2024 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 1 player in Michigan.
He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $407,000. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
CJ Carr Scouting Summary
On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power writes this about Carr as a prospect:
“Polished quarterback with a technically developed skill set. Measured at around 6-foot-2.5, 195 pounds prior to his senior season. Hand size has measured between 9.25 and 9.5 inches. Registers as average athlete with good quickness, running a 4.94-second 40-yard dash, 4.26-second shuttle and jumping 26.7 inches in the vertical at the Elite 11 regional. Has a quick, easy release that is easily replicated. Consistently spins the ball well, throwing a tight spiral. Shows the ability to layer the ball and throw with touch. Flashes functional movement skills and reactive quickness in the pocket.
“Capable of making off-script plays at times. Looks most comfortable in neutral, on-air settings at this stage. Completed 68.1% of his passes for 2,685 yards and 26 touchdowns against 5 interceptions. Plays in a high school offense that features a high percentage of short, quick passes. Can increase decisiveness as a player on Friday nights as his arm strength tends to show up more in neutral settings. Showed some signs of improvement late in his junior season but can improve his efficiency as a passer with his 8.2 yards per attempt being on the low end among 2024 blue-chip quarterbacks.”
