Notre Dame LB Nolan Ziegler enters NCAA Transfer Portal
Notre Dame linebacker Nolan Ziegler officially entered the NCAA Transfer Portal on Saturday night, On3 has learned. Coming out of high school, he was rated as a four-star prospect in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. Ziegler was also rated as the No. 276 overall player in America and the No. 29 linebacker prospect in the nation.
He led Catholic Central to three straight Michigan state championships. He also was selected to play in the All-American Bowl Game. As a senior, he racked up 120 tackles, six forced fumbles, an interception, and nine sacks.
Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman provided an update on on Ziegler on Sept. 7, when he said the sophomore LB remained unavailable. He also shined a little bit of light on what Ziegler has been going through.
“It really relates to mental health,” Freeman said. “He’s progressing, but he’s just dealing with a personal issue.” After missing the first six games of the 2023 season for personal reasons, Ziegler joined the team for Week 6 at Louisville.
