Schools are maintaining interest in Tallahassee (Fla.) James Rickards four-star defensive lineman Jalen Wiggins despite his commitment to Florida.

Notre Dame is the latest program to add to that list, as Wiggins announced an official offer from the Fighting Irish on Tuesday.

Blue And Gold reported last week that director of player personnel Chad Bowden was in the Sunshine State to visit Wiggins. Now, the 6-foot-5, 235-pounder has been offered as the Irish look to make a move.

Florida State was another program originally in the mix for Wiggins’ pledge, but he chose the Gators over the hometown Seminoles in January. FSU has since had Wiggins back on campus and aren’t going anywhere in his recruitment. He has currently locked in official visits to Stanford (May 31), Florida (June 7) and FSU (June 21).

Earlier this month, On3 VP of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong updated where things stand in Wiggins’ recruitment as he remains committed to Billy Napier and the Gators.

“He’s keeping other schools warm, so anytime Florida can get him back to campus it’s a big thing. He was recently at Florida State, you’ve got schools like Stanford poking around on him … one of (Florida’s) top prospects they already have in the fold, to just get him back around The Swamp, feeling why he’s a Gator is big for this coaching staff,” Wiltfong said.

“In the end it just came down to wanting to be a leader as well as falling in love with the place from more than just football. Florida has always been special and hearing insight from the players on a personal level was huge,” Wiggins told On3 upon his commitment.

Wiggins is the No. 92 overall prospect and No. 7 DL in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 13 player in Florida.

Notre Dame Class Breakdown

With 20 commitments, more prospects have pledged to the Fighting Irish than any other program. Notre Dame ranks No. 5 in the 2025 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

The 20-man class consists of 12 blue-chip prospects, led by No. 7 quarterback Lucedale (Miss.) George County four-star Deuce Knight. Knight committed to the Irish in September.

“I hope they know they’re getting an elite competitor,” Knights told On3 when asked what Irish fans should expect of him. “Anything that I can do to win games, that’s what I’m going to do. They’re getting a guy who will come in and help everyone get better because I’m an elite competitor.

Winter Garden (Fla.) West Orange four-star safety Ivan Taylor is the top-ranked pledge in the class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, as he checks in at No. 53 overall. Wallingford (Conn.) Choate Rosemary offensive tackle Will Black is a major outlier for On3, as he ranks five stars and No. 5 overall in the 2025 On300.

Tampa Berkeley Prep four-star safety Dallas Golden is the No. 104 recruit and the newest addition to the class. Other top-300 commits in the fold for Marcus Freeman and Co. include Chicago Simeon four-star EDGE Christopher Burgess, Green Bay (Wisc.) Notre Dame De La Baie four-star tight end James Flanigan, Waukesha (Wisc.) Catholic Memorial four-star OT Owen Strebig and Delran (N.J.) St. Joseph’s Prep four-star linebacker Anthony Sacca.
