Notre Dame offers On3's top 2023 linebacker Troy Bowles
Notre Dame has extended an offer to Tampa Jesuit four-star linebacker Troy Bowles.
Bowles, who is the son of Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, is one of the best linebackers in the country.
The On3 Consensus – a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies – has Bowles as the No. 45 overall player and No. 3 linebacker in the 2023 cycle.
However, On3 rates Bowles slightly higher at No. 37 overall and as the top linebacker in the 2023 On300 ranking.
“The son of Tampa Buccaneers defensive coordinator Todd Bowles checks in as the No. 1-ranked linebacker in the On300,” On3 National Recruiting Analyst Gerry Hamilton said when the most recent update of the 2023 On300 ranking was released. “The 6-foot-1, 205-pound playmaker has more than 140 tackles since the beginning of his sophomore season along with three sacks and two interceptions.

“Troy Bowles has instincts and awareness in spades and the feel for making plays on the ball. His versatility in the run game and coverage sets him apart from many peers at the position. Bowles has more than 30 offers to date, and has made unofficial visits to Ohio State, Georgia and Rutgers this season.”
Bowles told On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons in early October that Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Rutgers, Texas A&M and Virginia Tech had separated themselves from the pack at that time.
“They show a lot of love, and they show that they really want me,” Bowles said. “I don’t want to go anywhere that I’m not really wanted.”
Notre Dame did a great job recruiting at the linebacker position in the 2022 cycle.
Hilton Head Island (S.C.) Hilton Head four-star linebacker Jaylen Sneed, Traverse City (Mich.) Central four-star linebacker Joshua Burnham, Mission Hills (Calif.) Bishop Alemany four-star linebacker Niuafe Tuihalamaka and Grand Rapids (Mich.) Catholic Central four-star linebacker Nolan Ziegler are all ranked in the top 250 of the On3 Consensus.
