WATCH: Notre Dame punches ticket to Super Regionals by getting out of bases loaded jam

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish baseball team punched their tickets on Sunday night to the 2022 Super Regionals. In doing so, they made school history — it’s the first time in Fighting Irish baseball history that they’ve advanced to the Super Regionals in back-to-back seasons. Notre Dame defeated a pesky Texas Tech Red Raiders squad in the Statesboro Regional by the score of 2-1. It wasn’t easy, as the Fighting Irish escaped disaster in the bottom of the 9th inning by getting out of a bases-loaded jam.
Check it out below.
Notre Dame pitcher John Michael Bertrand had a great showing on the mound on Sunday night — he allowed nine hits and fanned seven batters in 7.2 innings of work. It was his second start of the regional. The Fighting Irish had nine hits in the game but only scored two runs. Spencer Myers, Ryan Cole, and Zack Prajzner all had doubles on Sunday night. Prajzner went 2-for-4 at the plate and scored one run. Myers had a double down the left field line for Notre Dame.

The top-ranked Tennessee Volunteers will host Notre Dame next week in the Super Regional. The Fighting Irish finished the Statesboro Regional with a 3-0 record on the weekend. The official date for the series between Notre Dame and Tennessee will be announced on Monday once all the regionals have been completed.
The Fighting Irish also defeated Georgia Southern earlier in the Statesboro Regional
The Fighting Irish battled back from a number of deficits to defeat Georgia Southern 6-4 earlier in the Statesboro Regional on June 4. They got three RBIs from Zack Prajzner in that one in the victory. Jack Brannigan also delivered three hits for Notre Dame in the winning effort. Ryan Cole went 2-for-5 at the plate in that game. The Fighting Irish broke the tie in the seventh inning. They scored two runs after they had two consecutive hit-by-pitches with the bases loaded, to give them the 6-4 lead and it would stay that way.
