Notre Dame standout Tae Davis plans to enter transfer portal

Notre Dame’s Tae Davis has spent the past two years there after being a transfer addition. Now, he will enter his name back into the transfer portal again ahead of his senior season.
That’s first per reporting done this afternoon from ESPN’s Jeff Borzello. On3’s Joe Tipton has since confirmed that reporting with Davis entering himself into the NCAA Transfer Portal.
“NEWS: Notre Dame forward Tae Davis is entering the transfer portal, he tells @On3sports,” Davis tweeted on Sunday.
Davis, who spent two seasons total in South Bend, was the second-leading scorer this year for the Fighting Irish. He averaged career-highs of 15.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists this season as a junior while shooting 47.6% from the field and a career-best of 30.2% from three. That brought his stats with the team up to 12.2 points (46.3% FG), 5.2 rebounds, and 1.4 assists.
Davis spent one year prior to these as a freshman at Seton Hall. While there, he posted 2.8 points and 2.8 rebounds.

Davis, an Indianapolis native, played high school basketball at Warren Central. He was the No. 148 overall recruit there as a three-star prospect in the 2022 cycle. He also rated as a Top-40 SF and the No. 5 player in the class out of the state of Indiana. That’s per On3’s Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Davis broke out this season as one of the better players on a team that again struggled. He’ll now be looking to take himself elsewhere with his third program in four years upon his official entry into the portal.
