Notre Dame wide receiver Jordan Faison scores behind-the-back goal in lacrosse national championship game
Notre Dame wide receiver Jordan Faison is about to enter his sophomore season for the Fighting Irish football team following an impressive freshman year. But before returning to the gridiron, he’s also been a member of Notre Dame’s lacrosse program as a two-sport athlete.
Notre Dame is in the midst of a national championship game matchup against Maryland, and on lacrosse’s biggest stage, Faison came up big with style.
In the third quarter, Faison missed a goal close to the crease only to recover the ball and go behind the back for an impressive goal to extend Notre Dame’s lead in a moment that can be seen below.
“This is the crazy part about Faison’s game Quint (Kessenich), you would think coming over from football he’d be an athlete, he’d beat you with speed. Well, he beats you with skill as well,” analyst Paul Carcaterra said on the broadcast.
Faison joined the Notre Dame football team as a walk-on but was on scholarship for the school’s lacrosse program after being a three-time high school All-American and a top 50 prospect according to Inside Lacrosse and NLFRanking.com. But in the midst his freshman season on the football team head coach Marcus Freeman realized that he was something special, rewarding Faison with a scholarship in October.
