According to the latest intel, the battle to land five-star EDGE Keon Keeley of Tampa (Fla.) Berkeley Prep is a long, long way from being over.

That’s true even though Keeley committed to Notre Dame last summer and still talks glowingly about the Fighting Irish.

Keeley took a visit to Alabama in January, and he has plans to be back in Tuscaloosa in the coming months. He has also mentioned trips to Florida, Georgia and Ohio State as possibilities. However, the only visit he has locked in now is a return visit to Notre Dame for the Fighting Irish spring game on April 23.

It’s that detail that has Notre Dame currently listed by the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine as the favorite to keep Keon Keeley’s commitment. According to the On3 RPM, Notre Dame has a 66.9% chance of landing his letter of intent. Florida is listed second at 22.4% and Alabama is at 10.2%.

Battle for Keon Keeley ‘far from over’

“All the other teams are still chasing the Irish, but this is far from over,” On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons recently wrote.

Mike Singer of On3’s BlueandGold.com believes the Irish have a great shot at keeping him on board long term.

“I spent some time with Keeley last week, and while I expect him to take other visits, Notre Dame is still the program to beat to eventually sign him,” Singer said. “If all goes according to Notre Dame’s plan, then Keeley will see some schools but will make one or two trips to South Bend in the spring, an official in June and lock back in with the Irish before the start of his senior season.”

Keon Keeley ranks as a five-star prospect and the No. 10 player in the country, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. The On3 Consensus also lists Keeley as the No. 1 EDGE in the country and the third-best player in Florida.

On3 ranks him slightly higher than others in the industry. Keeley is the No. 3 player in the On300, No. 1 EDGE and top-overall player in Florida.
