2024 3-star DL Owen Wafle decommits from Notre Dame
Princeton (N.J.) Hun School three-star defensive lineman Owen Wafle has decommitted from Notre Dame, he announced on Wednesday.
Wafle had been committed to the Fighting Irish since May 16, 2022.
“After much consideration and reflection, I have decided to decommit from Notre Dame,” he wrote on Twitter. “I want to express my sincere gratitude to the incredible coaching staff, the supportive fans, and the prestigious football program for their belief in me.This decision was not made lightly, as Notre Dame has a rich football legacy that I truly admire. However, I believe it’s important for me to explore other opportunities and find the best fit for my personal and athletic development.
… I want to thank my future teammates who welcomed me with open arms. It’s been an honor to get to know each and every one of you, and I wish you nothing but success on and off the field. As I embark on this new journey, I kindly ask for your understanding and respect. This decision was made in the best interest of my future and my dreams. I will continue to work tirelessly to achieve my goals and make an impact wherever I land. Thank you, Notre Dame, for the incredible opportunity. I will forever cherish the time spent here and the friendships I’ve made along the way.”
The 6-foot-2, 267-pounder was one of Notre Dame’s first commitments in the 2024 class, choosing the Fighting Irish over Iowa, Michigan State, Rutgers and Vanderbilt.
