Notre Dame sports one of the biggest brands in college football, having fans across the country. Fighting Irish apparel is wanted and at the current time, Under Armour is the one producing it. While Notre Dame could likely choose to work with whoever they want, their relationship with Under Armour is reportedly going to continue.

According to Yahoo’s Ross Dellenger, Notre Dame and Under Armour have agreed to a 10-year contract, locking in what is a historic agreement. It’s also “expected” to be the most lucrative deal in college athletics history, coming in at over $10 million a year.

“Notre Dame is re-signing with Under Armour in a new 10-year contract believed to be the richest apparel deal in college athletics, sources tell @YahooSports,” Dellenger said via Twitter. “The Irish’s new UA deal is expected to be worth more than $10 million annually in cash and gear.”

There has been a previous 10-year deal between Notre Dame and Under Armour, set to expire in the near future. However, Dellenger reports they struck a new one outside of an exclusive negotiating window. Two other appearance companies, Adidas and Nike, got in on the bidding but ultimately came up short.

To no surprise, the money Notre Dame will be receiving was why Under Armour was able to win out.

“Like its independence within football and exclusive television contract with NBC, Notre Dame officials enjoy being the apparel company’s most valuable and featured brand,” Dellenger said. “But the final determination in the decision was price, and Under Armour well outpaced the other offers, sources told Yahoo Sports.”

The report on Notre Dame and Under Armour comes on the same day as other exciting jersey news for the Fighting Irish. During this year’s game against Ohio State, they will wear the famous green jerseys — marking one of the season’s biggest matchups.

However, the twist will be some green pants being added into the fold. An all-green Notre Dame will take the field against Ohio State on Sept. 23 under the lights in South Bend. Another perk of the program’s relationship with Under Armour.

So for the next decade, Fighting Irish fans across the country will still be able to buy Under Armour equipment with the school’s branding on it. The athletic program will have the apparel’s logo on every aspect of the uniform too, getting exposure from one of college sport’s biggest brands.
