Ven-Allen Lubin, 2022 four-star, commits to Notre Dame
Ven-Allen Lubin, a 6-foot-8 small forward out of Orlando Christian Prep has committed to Notre Dame basketball for the class of 2022, he tells On3.
Lubin is the Fighting Irish’s third commitment of the class. He joins fellow four-stars JJ Starling and Dom Campbell.
Ven-Allen Lubin, the No. 100 ranked prospect in the On3 Consensus, ultimately chose Notre Dame over Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, and Clemson. He also received offers from Auburn, Alabama, Florida, amongst others.
Lubin also says he will sign on the first day of the early period, tomorrow, November 10th.
Lubin on his decision
“It felt natural,” Lubin said. “When I was on my visit, in my heart, and in my spirit…it was telling me like ‘no other place is better than this.’ It was so different. It was something different that I can’t really put into words. They’re just really great people, they’re genuine people…they want to give back and see their players and people just grow and develop and be successful in life. I’ve really had a great time getting to know the coaches as people and that’s really something that stuck out to me the most.”

What stood out the most to Lubin? “It was definitely the family environment, the family culture,” Lubin said. “They also have great mentorship. Guys who’ve played in the NBA or overseas who actually graduated from Notre Dame and they came back just to show love and support to the school…and to give back to the players as well. They just talk so highly about their players and I feel like they have great experience on the level of where I want to be at. They have great resources, they have great tools…the school has a great campus, it’s peaceful. It’s just beautiful. It separates from other schools because of the experience on the coaching staff, the culture, and Coach (Mike Brey). I really bonded and connected with him greatly during the visit.”
How did the coaching staff react when they heard the news?
“They almost fell out of the chair,” Lubin said. “They were so excited and thrilled that they were speechless. They were so full of energy. It was amazing to hear and see how happy they were about me joining the Irish Nation. And I was thrilled as well, I was excited…me and my parents, to share the decision and we feel like we’ve made a great choice.”
How does Lubin describe his game?
“I’m an unstoppable flasher. I get to the paint. I drive and kick, drive and shoot. I can shoot within 15 feet. Really good defender, can guard one through five. Very versatile. Really great footwork. I can do it all and I want to do the best I can to get the job done.”
