As Marcus Freeman approaches his first season as Notre Dame’s head coach, he has a challenge. How does he build on Brian Kelly’s success, while putting his own stamp on the program? Being a young coach, Freeman has embraced having fun and bringing high energy to the culture of the program.

Most recently, that took the form of singing the song ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.’ It’s a song that was made famous by performers like Marvin Gaye and Diana Ross. Now, the Notre Dame football team took a crack at singing the song.

Watch Notre Dame perform karaoke singing, ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough’ here:

Well, having the type of vocal range needed for this song isn’t common, so it’s probably excusable that Notre Dame doesn’t seem to have anyone capable of singing it. Points for trying, though. But, long term, it’s probably best that the Irish focus their efforts on the football field.

Notre Dame has a new broadcast crew

Notre Dame fans won’t just have to adjust to their team singing off the field. They’ll also be listening to a new broadcast team on NBC for home games. This comes as NBC has been searching for a replacement for Mike Tirico and Drew Brees.

Now, it’s being reported that NBC has found its new broadcast booth for Notre Dame games. Jac Collinsworth is going to have the play-by-play duties. Meanwhile, Jason Garrett is set to become the new game analyst.

Collinsworth is a Notre Dame graduate who has worked with NBC while he was a student and rejoined the company in 2020. He is the son of Cris Collinsworth, who is a broadcaster for NBC, best known for Sunday Night Football. His brother, Austin Collinsworth, was a captain of the Notre Dame football team during the early part of Brian Kelly’s tenure.

For his part, Jason Garrett is best known as the former Dallas Cowboys head coach. During Duke’s recent coaching search, Garrett was a rumored candidate, but the job went to Mike Elko. He initially joined NBC to broadcast the USFL.

The Irish open up their season at Ohio State, before returning home for a game against Marshall. That home opener will be the first NBC broadcast of the 2022 season.
