Wisconsin transfer WR Will Pauling commits to Notre Dame

Wisconsin transfer wide receiver Will Pauling committed to Notre Dame on Tuesday night, according to Matt Fortuna. He has hauled in 129 catches for 1,372 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in four years during his time at Cincinnati and Wisconsin. He’ll have one year of eligibility remaining.

Pauling began his college career at Cincinnati in 2021 before transferring to Wisconsin ahead of the 2023 season to follow head coach Luke Fickell. He had 42 catches for 407 yards and three touchdowns in 2024.

In four college season, Pauling played in 36 total games. He has 129 career receptions for 1372 yards and nine touchdowns.

Pauling played high school football at Homewood-Flossmoor (Ill.) High School, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 1162 overall recruit in the 2021 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Pauling is a graduate transfer.

Notre Dame also landed Virginia transfer WR Malachi Fields

The Irish recently landed another stud wide receiver, Malachi Fields, from the Virginia Cavaliers in the transfer portal. Fields is heading to Notre Dame after spending four years with the Cavaliers. This past season he earned third-team All-ACC honors after leading Virginia with 55 receptions for 808 yards and five touchdowns.

He hauled in over 800 receiving yards in back-to-back seasons for the Cavaliers, establishing himself as one of the better wideouts in the ACC. Fields also made Bruce Feldman’s “Freaks” List for the 2024 season.

He checked in at No. 66 on that list over the summer. The Virginia native has some impressive testing numbers. He recorded a close-grip bench of 365 pounds and did 21 reps at 225 pounds. Fields also recorded a front squat of 355 pounds, a 38-inch vertical, 10 7.5 inches broad jump, 4.18 shuttle time, and hit over 22 miles per hour on the GPS tracking system.

Malachi Fields signed with Virginia after being ranked as a three-star recruit and the No. 49 athlete in the country in the class of 2021, per the On3 Industry Rankings. He appeared in 11 games that season, making one start. He finished the year with 11 receptions for 172 yards.
