2025 4-star OT Carter Lowe commits to Ohio State Buckeyes
Toledo (Ohio) Whitmer 2025 four-star offensive tackle Carter Lowe took visits to programs across the country, considered a lot of schools and ultimately came down to two: Georgia and Ohio State.
But one of the top recruits in the state of Ohio is staying home to play for the Buckeyes.
“I love the program,” he told On3. “Ohio State has always been high on my list, and Coach Frye was big in my decision. He was probably the biggest reason because he has had a lot of success at developing guys at Ohio State. I believe he can coach me, develop me and get me where I want to be.”
Lowe visited Ohio State for the Buckeyes’ 20-12 win over Penn State just weeks after visiting rival Michigan. He started feeling at that point like he knew where he wanted to commit.
“I went on a lot of visits during the season, and when I was at the Ohio State-Penn State I started feeling it for Ohio State,” he said. “I always had them toward the top of my list since they offered, but I really started feeling it at that game. I wanted to take my time, seeing how I felt and nothing changed.”
Lowe gives the Buckeyes a cornerstone tackle in this class
The 6-foot-5, 285-pound Lowe is the nation’s No. 173 overall prospect and No. 13 offensive tackle in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 7 player in Ohio.

The Buckeyes have made keeping their in-state targets at home a top priority, and Lowe isn’t any different. Though he considered the rival Wolverines, it was actually watching them win the national championship earlier this month that helped him know where he wanted to go.
“I watched the Michigan-Washington game, and I didn’t really care about who won, but down deep, I just felt that I wanted Michigan to lose,” he said. “I was at the Michigan-Ohio State game too, and I was there as a Michigan recruit, but I wanted Ohio State to win. Those feelings told me Ohio State was the place I needed to be.”
He gave Frye and the Buckeyes staff the news a few weeks ago, and he hasn’t had any second thoughts. He loves the culture in Columbus and couldn’t be more excited to play for Frye and Ryan Day.
“The relationships with Frye and Day set them apart,” he added. “Coach Day is an amazing person. No head coach has talked to me and gotten to know me like Coach Day has. Our connection was really important too, and he showed me how much of a priority I am for Ohio State.”
