Springfield (Ohio) four-star cornerback Aaron Scott Jr. took an unofficial visit to Ohio State earlier this week. It marked his latest spring trip as he saw Michigan on March 19, Tennessee on March 25 and Notre Dame on April 1. He will also go to Pittsburgh (April 13), Penn State (April 14) and Oregon (April 27) in the coming days.

Scott Jr. is the No. 43 overall prospect and No. 4 cornerback in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 1 player in Ohio.

On3 rates Scott Jr. higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Per the 2024 On300, he is the No. 11 overall prospect, No. 2 cornerback and No. 1 player in Ohio.

“He tells me they need me,” Scott Jr. told On3’s Chad Simmons on Jan. 18 about secondary/cornerbacks coach Tim Walton‘s message to him. “Me and this other corner, he told us we’re the top priorities. We’re his priorities. He definitely wants to get me on the team. He told me he’s ready whenever I am.”

“They’re gonna come back next year for vengeance, ready to beat everybody again,” he added about Ohio State. “I know that a couple players (are going) to the league. We’re just gonna have to wait and see how they look next year, but I think they’re a great school and they’re still gonna continue winning.”

Scott Jr. is a top priority for Ohio State this cycle

Landing Scott Jr. would be a huge recruiting win for the Buckeyes, who are also working to sign another top Ohio defensive back: Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville four-star cornerback Bryce West. Both Scott and West visited Columbus on April 3.

At the moment, the Buckeyes’ 2024 recruiting class is No. 2 in the 2024 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 1 in the Big Ten. It currently contains no cornerbacks, but is led by Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna Prep Five-Star Plus+ wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, the No. 2 overall prospect and No. 1 wide receiver in the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking.

Meanwhile, Ohio State has landed commitments from New Haven (Ind.) five-star wide receiver Mylan Graham and San Antonio (Texas) Veterans Memorial four-star running back James Peoples since April 2. Graham and Peoples are both top-100 players in the On3 Industry Ranking.
