Marvin Harrison Jr. was widely considered to be the top receiver in college football throughout the 2023 season. That distinction is now official. Harrison has won the 2023 Biletnikoff Award, which is given to the top receiver in the country.

He received the honor over fellow finalists Rome Odunze of Washington and Malik Nabers of LSU.

Harrison was named the Biletnikoff Award winner after catching 67 passes for 1,211 yards and 14 touchdowns through 12 games this season.

He averaged more than 100 receiving yards per game, despite several factors working against him.

Marvin Harrison Jr. played through injuries at times, dealt with inconsistent quarterback play and was the focus of every defense the Buckeyes played. Still, he was able to put up impressive numbers this season.

In addition to winning the Biletnikoff Award, Marvin Harrison Jr. is also a finalist for the Heisman trophy, which will be handed out Saturday night.

Harrison signed with Ohio State as a four-star recruit and the No. 73 overall player in the country in the class of 2021, according to the On3 Industry rankings.

The son of NFL Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison, Harrison Jr. came in and immediately contributed for the Buckeyes as a freshman in 2021. He played in all 13 games that season, finishing the year with 11 catches for 139 yards and three touchdowns.

Harrison had a breakout season in 2022, catching 77 passes for 1,263 yards and 14 scores. He helped the Buckeyes reach the College Football Playoff, where Ohio State lost a heartbreaker to eventual national champion Georgia. Harrison was named the Big Ten Conference’s Wide Receiver of the Year last season.

He followed that up by putting together another special season in 2023.

Marvin Harrison Jr. would without a doubt be a first-round pick and likely the top receiver selected in next year’s NFL draft. However, he has not made a decision yet on if he will turn pro.

Despite all of the stats and awards that he has piled up, Harrison has yet to beat Michigan or win the Big Ten. That gives him motivation to potentially come back for his senior season, he recently shared.

“Coming into this year, I wanted to beat The Team Up North and win a Big Ten Championship and obviously I did not do that this year. I think there’s a great motive to come back if that’s what I decide to do. That’s something I definitely wanted to do in my Ohio State career, and not having done that yet definitely opens the door for me to come back. But undecided, really just taking it day by day at this time,” Harrison said.

Whatever he decides to do, there’s no doubt that Marvin Harrison Jr. has left his mark on college football and the Ohio State program. Winning the Biletnikoff Award only adds to his legacy.
