4-star CB Bryce West visits Ohio State
Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville four-star cornerback Bryce West is one of Ohio State‘s top targets in the 2024 cycle. The Buckeyes are certainly doing their part to land him.
Head coach Ryan Day and his staff hosted West for a two-day visit early this week. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Ohio State has a commanding lead for West’s commitment at 94.9%.
“I won’t say too much, but (Ohio State) is definitely one of the top schools on my list,” West told Matt Parker of Lettermen Row on Aug. 28.
West is the No. 63 overall prospect and No. 7 cornerback in the 2024 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 2 player in Ohio.
At the moment, the Buckeyes’ 2024 recruiting class is No. 3 in the 2024 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 1 in the Big Ten. It currently contains no cornerbacks, but is led by Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna Prep Five-Star Plus+ wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, the No. 2 overall prospect and No. 1 wide receiver in the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking.
West enjoyed his recent visits to Oregon and USC
West’s trip to Columbus marked his latest visit this spring. He also saw Oregon from March 15-17 and USC from March 18-22.
According to the 5-foot-11.5, 175-pound defensive back, those trips “set the standard” in his recruitment.

“I can see myself definitely going back there for official visits to both schools,” West told On3’s Chad Simmons on March 24. “I have a very strong connection with the coaching staff, with players.”
“The players are very talented players, very nice players,” he added. “They encourage each other, first of all. They uplift each other, don’t talk bad about each other. The coaches, it was good vibes being around them, having good conversations with them and my family.”
West also broke down his specific interest in both Oregon and USC. Both Ducks head coach Dan Lanning and Trojans head coach Lincoln Riley have impressed him.
Oregon: “(Me and coach Demetrice Martin) were talking football and talking about everyday life. He’s a great coach. We had a great conversation. He’s gonna keep it real with you. He speaks truth to you. He doesn’t sugarcoat anything. Watching him coach, he’s got a different type of vibe. He’s doesn’t do every drill that you think you need. He does drills that are going to help you in the game, like press man technique, off the ball, breaking on point.”
USC: “The staff is amazing. I talked with them the whole time, joked with them the whole time. It was fun talking with them. They were very involved with my parents, with me. I love the coaching staff. I was just talking to them about anything, at-home stuff, sports stuff.”
