Chris Holtmann and Ohio State have had a difficult season. However, after beating Illinois on Sunday, the Buckeyes feel like they have something to build on late in the season.

After the game, Holtmann explained what it means to him to see his team so happy after the win.

“It’s the best thing about it. It’s the best thing about it. It’s the best thing about it,” Chris Holtmann repeated himself.

“You know, it’s that and seeing my wife happy and my daughter. Yeah, yeah. That’s the best thing about it. The best thing about it is seeing those guys smile, seeing them really enjoy, have fun playing today. Enjoy the moment. Enjoy the fun plays that happened in the midst of the game. Like, that’s the best thing about it.”

Ohio State is 12-17 this season and just 4-14 in Big Ten play. That’s currently just 13th in the conference and it had been nine games since the Buckeyes got a win.

Chris Holtmann praised Ohio State’s rebounding

After the win, Chris Holtmann praised Ohio State’s rebounding effort, which played a key part of the win over Illinois.

“Huge key,” Holtmann said.

“Enormous key. They’re the second-best offensive rebounding team in the league. They have guys off the bench who are really committed to offensive rebounding. It was a huge key. Players will tell you, we drilled it home for two days. We had a really physical practice yesterday because of how good they are on the glass. It was an enormous key and they did a good job.”
