A bye week can be a welcome sight for college football programs across the country. Several weeks spent playing high-level football means a week of extra rest can hold so much value for a roster. Ohio State spent last week on bye, but that didn’t mean CJ Stroud spent any time away from football.

Stroud talked about how he spent his bye week during media on Wednesday. While he didn’t play football last week, he still consumed plenty of it by watching his friends and other players compete on Saturday.

“I watched a couple games and seen what was going on around college football,” said Stroud. “I like sitting there and watching games, seeing some of my friends play, some of the homies, some people I just like to watch play. A lot of my friends did well so I’m happy for them.”

After their 6-0 start, the Buckeyes used this extra time well before the second half of their season. In Stroud’s case, he used it as an opportunity to take notes, get fresh, and support his buddies across the NCAA. His attention will now turn to film for the Hawkeyes as Ohio State will return to the field this weekend against Iowa.

Joel Klatt breaks down Heisman Trophy candidates after Week 7

As the halfway point of the college football season comes and goes, the Heisman Trophy race is heating up. Things got interesting last week when Tennessee defeated Alabama, and FOX Sports analyst Joel Klatt thinks that game put Hendon Hooker into the thick of the Heisman race.

“I thought before last week, it was kind of clearly CJ Stroud in the lead,” Klatt said on “Breaking The Huddle with Joel Klatt” Wednesday night. “Now, it’s a nice little two-horse race and maybe even three.”

Here’s Klatt’s full list of Heisman candidates, as he revealed Wednesday:

  1. CJ Stroud, Ohio State
  2. Hendon Hooker, Tennessee
  3. Blake CorumMichigan
  4. Dorian Thompson-RobinsonUCLA
  5. Bryce Young, Alabama
