Dan Orlovsky believes Jeremiah Smith would be the No. 1 pick in 2025 NFL Draft

Ohio State WR Jeremiah Smith has been one of the best overall players, let alone receivers, in all of college football as a true freshman this year. He’s been so great that, after his latest performance, we’re starting to discuss his ability as a pro two years before he’s even eligible to be one.
During ‘Get Up’ on Monday, Dan Orlovsky spoke about Smith after his outing for the Buckeyes in the Rose Bowl in the College Football Playoff. He stated that, if Smith were able to be drafted, he would go at No. 1 overall in 2025.
“If Jeremiah Smith came out in the draft this year, he would be the number one pick,” Orlovsky said. “Not even close. He would be a shoo-in to be the number one pick.”
“In the playoff, he’s got 13 catches for 204 yards and four touchdowns. Those four touchdowns go for 37, 22, 43, and 45. They’ve got the best player left in the playoff. He would be the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft this year.”
With that, Orlovsky made comparisons for Smith to two of the better receivers in league history from this past decade and a half.
“He’s Julio Jones,” said Orlovsky. “He reminds me of Julio Jones. His physical frame reminds me a little bit of Calvin Johnson.”
Former NFL QB EJ Manuel also agreed as Smith is now just the latest great receiver out of Columbus.
“This kid, Jeremiah Smith, man? He is different,” said Manuel. “It seems like, every single year, they have another receiver.”

Through the 14 appearances of his first collegiate season, Smith now has 70 receptions for 1,224 yards and 14 touchdowns. He has had a receiving score in 11 of those games, including three games with a pair of them with two of those being each of their matchups so far in the CFP. So, just in the playoff, he has averaged 6.5 catches for 145 yards and two touchdowns.
Smith has been a sensation throughout this season at just 19 years old. However, college will get to appreciate him for two more full years before some franchise ends up with him in the future no earlier than in 2027.
“Number one pick. Wouldn’t even be close,” said Orlovsky. “He would easily be the number one pick in this year’s draft.”
“You will have teams in two years for that ’27 Draft tanking for him. He’s that good. He’s that talented,” Orlovsky said. “He would be, easily, the number one pick in this year’s NFL Draft. Easily.”
